News: Beach Water Testing

The nine beaches operated by the Grand River Conservation Authority will no longer be tested by public health units for high fecal coliform counts. Interesting, particularly in light of the talk Krystyn Tully from Swim, Drink, Fish Canada (Lake Ontario Waterkeeper) recently gave to Nature Guelph on achieving a future where the water is safe to swim in, drink, and eat fish from. Her organization promotes the belief that people have the right to know the quality of the water around them. They produce the Waterkeeper Swim Guide, an app and website that helps people find beaches and check water quality status.
