Getting Involved with Nature Guelph

There are all kinds of ways to get involved with Nature Guelph, the easiest being to come out for our meetings or events! A passion for nature is contagious, so spread the word and bring a friend. If you are a nature lover, there is always a spot for you at Nature Guelph!

If you’d like to be more involved, consider buying an annual membership for you or your family. Members receive our bi-monthly newsletter, and occasional email updates (you may opt out if you’d like) about upcoming local nature events. Membership fees support our activities, including our regular events, kids’ programs, Ontario Nature affiliation and more. Donations above and beyond membership fees are always more than welcome, and 100% goes towards club activities.

Volunteering for Nature Guelph

Executive

Nature Guelph is entirely run by an executive committee of hard-working volunteers. These passionate individuals dedicate their time to every facet of the club, including our meetings, programs, young naturalists, newsletter, publicity, website and more. Without their time and energy, Nature Guelph would cease to be!

Positions on the executive occasionally become vacant, and those opportunities will be posted below.

There are no executive vacancies at this time, though there will be openings beginning September 2017.

Please contact Christine Bowen if you are interested at: secretary@natureguelph.ca.

Other Volunteer Opportunities

In addition to volunteering in an executive capacity, there are many other ways you can get more involved in Nature Guelph. Our executive committee members are always looking for volunteers to help them out and we usually have a special project or two on the go that you can help us out with!

Here are some ideas for volunteer activities: Outdoor Programs Committee, Conservation Committee, Young Naturalists and Naturalists in Training programs, Community Outreach (staffing our display at various community events), and the Nature in the City program.

If you want to learn more about any of these opportunities, or have your own ideas about how you can volunteer your time and skills to support Nature Guelph, please contact Christine Bowen at: secretary@natureguelph.ca.

Donating to Nature Guelph

Nature Guelph is a volunteer-run, registered charity, and all income we receive from memberships, kids’ program registrations and fundraising events goes directly towards our programs and activities including meetings, outdoor programs, subsidizing kids’ programs and more. Additional donations are always welcome, and help us to spread a love of nature in Guelph as widely as we can! We gratefully accept donations of any amount, and charitable receipts are available for donations of over $10.

Reinder Westerhoff Education Fund

Reinder Westerhoff was a well-respected teacher, naturalist, mentor, spirited instigator and long-time member and friend of Nature Guelph. In his memory, Nature Guelph has established the Reinder Westerhoff Educational Fund to support the educational needs and activities of Guelph-area youth relating to the conservation of nature in Ontario. Donations can be made through the CanadaHelps donation button below, or by cheque at any club meeting (please specify the Reinder Westerhoff Education Fund).

How to Donate

Donations can be made in-person by cash or cheque at any of our indoor meetings, or using the Canada Helps button below. If you would like to speak to someone about making a donation by another method, please contact our Treasurer John Prescott at jprescot@execulink.com.
