Nature Guelph Outdoor Program – Road Trip to Hawk Cliff
October 1 @ 7:00 am - 4:00 pm
Join Nature Guelph for a road trip led by expert birder Kyle Horner to Hawk Cliff, one of the prime fall migration hawk watching destinations in North America. Hawk Cliff is located on the north shore of Lake Erie just east of Port Stanley. Birders can expect to see 15 different raptor species with typical count totals reaching several thousand birds per day. On big days, lucky visitors have witnessed over 100,000 raptors in a single day! For more information check out the Hawk Cliff website: http://www.ezlink.ca/~thebrowns/HawkCliff/index.htm
We will meet in the Universtiy of Guelph Arboretum Centre parking lot at 7 am to carpool. It’s a 1h 40min drive to Hawk Cliff. We will aim to leave Hawk Cliff around 2 pm, to return to The Arboretum before 4pm.
This event is family friendly for those who are patient enough to sit around watching/waiting for birds to fly overhead.
Please leave pets at home.
Wear weather appropriate clothing (with lots of layers) as we will be outside. Bring snacks/lunch, water, binoculars and/or a spotting scope, field guide(s), and a folding chair if you have one.
