Nature Guelph Outdoor Event – Night Hike at Sudden Tract in Cambridge
April 21, 2017 @ 9:00 pm - 11:00 pm
Please join us for a fun group field trip to Sudden Tract in Cambridge, a well know herpetological hot spot! We will be exploring the vernal pools of the tract in search of frogs, salamanders, and so much more. You will learn about the unique reproductive systems of the Jeffersons complex salamanders and are likely to see spring peepers, grey tree frogs, wood frogs, spotted salamanders, Jefferson complex salamanders and lots, lots more.
Arrival and departure times and locations:
Meet at the Sudden Tract parking lot at 1841 Spragues Rd. in Cambridge (https://goo.gl/maps/7bVf1DEB2Vz) at 9:00 pm for a 2 hour long hike. If there is lots to see we might stay a bit longer.
Who should come:
This event can be a great experience for the whole family but with the late evening it is recommended only for those that can handle a long hike in the dark late into the evening. Please do not bring dogs to this event.
Please contact Brett at firstname.lastname@example.org if you need a ride or wish to carpool from Guelph.
What to wear and bring:
This event will take place rain or shine so dress appropriately. Rubber boots are highly recommended; if you don’t have boots hip waders are acceptable. As there will likely be eggs in the pools we will not be entering the water but boots are still recommended because it will be wet and muddy. Headlamps/flashlights are a requirement so please don’t forget them! Make sure you have enough batteries/charge for several hours.
